Charfield Pre-School (formerly Charfield Playgroup, originally established in 1967), has been operating from its current location since February 2002. The Foundation Room is a cosy, single-storey building with its own newly-refurbished garden and outdoor play area. We share our home with the Charfield Out Of School Club.

Lunchtime ** Children bring a packed lunch in a lunch box, or can take advantage of hot school dinners, freshly cooked in the Primary
School canteen. All of the children are also offered diluted orange juice and water.

RISING 5's - This specially focussed day is for children who are due to start primary school in the following September. We aim to make
the transition from pre-school to primary school as easy as possible for the children, we plan a range of activities around :

- Familiarising the children with their future surroundings (e.g. a visit to the prospective reception class, meeting their future teacher, a trip
to the school canteen for a hot lunch).
- Encouraging the children to become more confident and self-sufficient in certain life skills (e.g. having P.E. sessions with a P.E. kit, to
practice getting changed and participating in a structured P.E. lesson.
- Encouraging the children to work together in groups.
- Trips to the local library and farm trips in order to encourage independence and following instructions.
